The Shanghai Suzhou Hunan high-speed railway will be put into operation on December 26th
According to China Railway Group, the Shanghai Suzhou Huzhou high-speed railway (hereinafter referred to as the Shanghai Suzhou Huzhou high-speed railway) will be put into operation on December 26th. The Shanghai Hongqiao Huzhou station can be reached in just 55 minutes, adding a new artery to the "Yangtze River Delta on the track".
The Shanghai Suzhou Huzhou high-speed railway starts from Shanghai Hongqiao Station in Shanghai, passes through Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and connects to Huzhou Station in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province. The total length of the line is 164 kilometers, with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It has 8 stations including Shanghai Hongqiao, Shanghai Songjiang, Liantang, Suzhou South, Shengze, Huzhou Nanxun, Huzhou East, and Huzhou Station. Among them, Shanghai Hongqiao and Huzhou Station are existing stations, while the rest are newly built stations.
The Shanghai Suzhou Lake high-speed railway passes through alluvial plains with complex geological conditions, making construction difficult. Since the start of construction in June 2020, China Railway Group has organized all participating units to integrate the concept of green and low-carbon development into the entire process of railway planning, design, and construction, increase scientific research and development efforts, strengthen safety, quality, investment, and environmental control, and promote high-quality and efficient engineering construction. 38 bridges, including the Songhu Extra Large Bridge, have been erected to ensure that the project is completed on schedule.
Before the project was put into operation, China Railway Group carefully organized relevant units to strictly implement various regulations and standards. They conducted joint debugging, testing, acceptance, and safety evaluation of various professional equipment on the Shanghai Suzhou Hunan high-speed railway, and comprehensively optimized and adjusted the track status, pantograph performance, train control, communication signal system, etc. At present, the line meets the requirements for safe and stable operation of high-speed rail and has the conditions for opening and operation.
The Shanghai Suzhou Lake high-speed railway operates at a speed of 350 kilometers per hour. In the initial stage of operation, the railway department will arrange passenger trains according to daily and peak lines, with 38 high-speed trains running daily, all of which are cross line high-speed trains. From Shanghai Hongqiao to Shanghai Songjiang, Suzhou South, and Huzhou Nanxun stations, it is 16 minutes, 26 minutes, and 43 minutes respectively. From Shanghai Hongqiao to Huzhou station, it is 55 minutes faster, which is 55 minutes shorter than the Shanghai Hongqiao to Hangzhou section of the Shanghai Kunming high-speed railway and the Hangzhou to Huzhou section of the Ningbo Hangzhou high-speed railway; The first high-speed train from Shanghai Hongqiao to Hangzhou West Station can be reached in 78 minutes. After the adjustment of the train schedule in the first quarter of 2025, the daily operation of high-speed trains on the Shanghai Suzhou Hunan high-speed railway will reach 229. In order to meet the different travel needs of passengers, the railway department has implemented a flexible discount and differentiated market-oriented fare mechanism on the Shanghai Suzhou Hunan high-speed railway, providing more choices for passengers' travel. Specific fares can be queried through Railway 12306.
The Shanghai Suzhou Hunan high-speed railway connects to the Shanghai railway hub at Shanghai Hongqiao Station, and to the Ningbo Hangzhou high-speed railway and the Hefei Hangzhou high-speed railway at Huzhou Station. It is a key project for connecting, supplementing, and strengthening the high-speed railway network in the Yangtze River Delta. After the completion and operation of this project, it will further improve the regional road network layout, promote the integrated construction of infrastructure in the Yangtze River Delta region, facilitate the travel of people along the route, and have important significance for promoting industrial development along the route and assisting the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta integration.
